VEK2636 - AC Motor Controller

Bi-directional DC Motor Speed Controller

This DC motor controller kit allows controlling the speed of a DC motor in both the forward and reverse direction using pulse-width modulation (PWM). The range of DC motor control is from fully OFF to fully ON in both directions.  Turning the pot in the other direction causes the DC motor to spin in the opposite direction. The center position on the pot is OFF, forcing the motor to slow and stop before changing direction.  See our one direction DC Motor Controller.

Specifications:

L: 3-3/4" W: 1-5/8" H: 1".
Motor Speed Controlled via a potentiometer.
For DC motors 12 to 32 Volts DC @ 5 Amps as constructed. The IRFZ44 Mosfets can handle up to a maximum 49Amps, but PCB trace capacity would have to be beefed up with some hookup wire (underneath the PCB) soldered between the MOFSET pins and the screw terminal blocks.  If you are running beyond 5 Amps and the MOFSETS are getting hot, bigger heatsinks should be used.  You can also dissipate heat with a cooling fan directed over the heat sinks.
Requires operating voltage of 6 - 32 VDC.
(Need a Power Supply?)
This PWM DC motor controller circuit can be used for generating hydrogen, build your own fuel cell station.  More common uses include controlling DC motors in golf carts, buggies, RC cars, robotics, DC hobby motors, toy DC motors, etc.

See K166.pdf for complete details, including schematic and theory of operation.

Mini Scrolling LED Sign

This is a great kit to help you build your electronics knowledge, plus when you're done building it you'll have a product that you'll actually use. No effort has been spared in designing a nice product.

This scrolling sign has 96 different characters, and can store messages up to 232 characters long. The messages are stored in memory even after power-down, so it'll be there when you turn it back on. The scroll rate is adjustable to 8 different speeds (including stopped) and you can manually scroll using the left and right buttons.

An intuitive 4-button interface that lets you enter messages quickly. You can also connect it directly to your computer and type in messages with your keyboard. Electronics enthusiasts will find this device a great tool when connected to another microcontroller.

This kit comes with all the parts you need to build a very cool scrolling LED sign, including a professional quality double sided circuit board, a programmed microcontroller (this kit is based on Microchip's PIC16F628A), and high brightness red LED displays (the image below gives no credit to the brilliant bright red). We even include extra parts to let you adjust the display brightness (and power consumption). A 7-9V 120mA power source is required. The kit includes a plug that can be soldered to any power wires (say, from a battery or old wall adapter). We also sell a power supply separately that already has the correct plug adapter.

Specifications:

Size: 8x24 pixels, 2.40"(61.9mm) x 1.71"(43.4mm) x .54"(13.8mm)
Display size: 8x24 pixels, .79"(20.0mm) x 2.36"(60.0mm)
Input Power: 7-9V, 120mA (Need a power supply?)
Comm Protocol: RS232, 19200baud, RS232 output option
See Mini Scrolling LED Sign Kit Instructions (PDF) for complete details, including schematic and theory of operation.

Cell Phone Remote Control

Use this light activated circuit to turn equipment on and off at any location via GSM mobile phone.  Applications include turning on lighting, heating, opening your gate, simulating presence, controlling  animal feeders, activating car alarms, etc...  Ring detection circuit avoids phone charges and there is no need to open or modify phone, no physical connection to mobile phone.  Works with most GSM mobile phones.

Specifications:

L: 4" W: 1.7" H: 1"
Power supply: 12Vdc / 100mA
(Need a Power Supply?)
Dual operation mode: on/off toggle or on with auto turn-off timer
Timer settings: 0.5s, 2s, 30s, 1 min, 5 min, 15 min, 30min or 1 hour
Relay has Normally Open and Normally Closed Contact.
Relay Contact Max Current 3Amp @ 120VAC.
(more info on how relays work)
See VEMK160Assembly.pdf for complete details, including schematic and theory of operation.  See VEMK160Operation.pdf for operating instructions.

Three Light/Dark Activated Relay Switches

This kit has three separate circuits that allow you to open and close a switch based on the amount of light that the circuit senses. For example turn on a Flood Light when it gets dark, turn on a light when a door opens or closes, open or close blinds when it is day or night, etc..

Specifications:

Requires external 12VDC Power.
(Need a Power Supply?)
Relays have Normally Closed and Normally Open contacts rated up to 240 VAC @ 5 amps. (more info on how relays work)
See CK1602A.pdf for complete details, including schematic and theory of operation.

5 Channel Light Chaser

A versatile 5-channel AC light chaser that is easy to program. The circuit incorporates 5 jumpers that can be positioned on 2 different positions. The combination of different arrangements of these 5 jumpers will create numerous different light chasing effects. For example, if all 5 jumpers are positioned in the "A" mode, then each light will go on one after the other and will create a single moving light. Now if you change the position of all 5 jumpers to the "B" mode, you will have 4 channels on and 1 channel off at each moment and this will create another but different and interesting moving light. Other combinations of the "A" or "B" modes of the 5 jumpers will create different types of moving light effects.

Specifications:

Supply voltage: 9-12V DC / 100 mA
(Need a Power Supply?)
Includes adapter jack
Adjustable chasing speed
Up to 200W / 110V AC (400W / 220V AC) of lights per channel
5-LED channel indicator
PC board dimensions: 4.5"L x 2.5"W x 0.75"H
See CANCK289.pdf for complete details, including schematic and theory of operation.
